On the BainsExtraBold – UK Type & Design Tour you’ll spend seven (7) days with people who love typography and graphic design. Meet us and your fellow travellers in London’s West End to begin your journey with a, “Look up, Look Down” type safari photoshoot.
As Londoner’s, we will personally take you to hidden historical typographic gems, introduce you to some of the top creative influencers and you will experience the coolest places to hang out in London. You won’t want to leave!

Day 1 – Tues 26 June
Meet us in London for a welcome and briefing, so strangers can start becoming friends. We will get to know each other, go over our activities for the tour and give advice about getting around and having a safe and fun trip. We’ll start the tour with a Typography “Look Up, Look Down” type safari photo shoot day and walking tour discovering the amazing history, art, and architecture.
Day 2 – Weds 27 June
Come with us as we travel to North London to experience a fascinating insight into how type can influence our feelings, our senses, and even our taste” with this experiential event. We’ll be having an exclusive in-studio type tasting with an internationally renown graphic designer and type psychology researcher, known for her groundbreaking research into the perception of typefaces. She is the author of several books and is renown in the international design community from Tedx, BBC, Wired, Communication Arts, SXSW to name a few. Quintessential English tea and biscuits will be served.
Day 3 – Thurs 28 June
We will travel to the beautiful Sussex Coast where we have booked an amazing waterfront venue for our next activity which takes place in a pioneering centre of art and culture. This is where you will be able to feel the beauty of large wood type as you get hands-on in a private letterpress workshop and experience the craftsmanship of the letterpress, “inking up” and printing. This will be something special to bring home and frame. Your own creation!
In the evening, you will be a special guest at an exclusive Typography award ceremony. You will meet the UK’s top designers and typographers. What questions would you ask? Start thinking about some questions and the kind go things you’d like to know. This is a once in a lifetime chance to get an exclusive dive into the minds of their inner workings and pick their brains over a glass of wine or two!

Day 4 – Fri 29 June
Spend the day on the waterfront meeting more UK creatives and attending an international type conference. Walk along the beach, have lunch on the waterfront or stroll into town and discover the historic landscape. Socialise with UK creatives and make new friends as you expand your network and learn from international speakers. You will have free time to enjoy the rest of your evening and watch the beautiful sunset as you sit by the sea or stroll along the promenade.

Day 5 – Sat 30 June
Tour this hidden gem. A village museum that has been influential in the design industry internationally and find out what made it a creative hub in the 20th century. The afternoon awaits us before we head off to explore this quaint English village and all its eccentricities then we catch the train and travel back to London.
You will be surrounded by beautiful Art Deco when we meet up again in the evening for a touch of “Paris in London”, as we dine in one of London’s beautiful Parisian brasseries. Then they’ll be a little surprise to round off the evening.
Day 6 – Sun 1 July
Today, we head out on a London double-decker bus. When visiting London, many tourists opt to take the expensive tour buses for sightseeing. Travel with us instead. We’ll show you the buses to take that will only cost you a local fare as we go sightseeing from Central London all the way to South Kensington and experience the history of design.
Day 7 – Mon 2 July
We will visit a local design studio to see their work and then head off to sit on a famous terrace overlooking the Rivers Thames for sips and entertainment.
Our last day together and we’re going to make it a night you will never forget in one of the coolest hang outs in London. You’ll watch Mixologists at work and tasting some of the finest dining in London. You’ll end your tour with an epic night!

We reserve the right to cancel if less than 5 participants are registered. You will be given either a full refund or offered a credit to a future tour. You will be given at least 2 weeks advance notice should we need to cancel.

Why is the tour in the destination country currency?
People who take these tours come from all over the world. This is the most accurate way to avoid currency fluctuations. All activities are also paid for in local currency.
Do I need insurance?
We highly recommend you purchase travel and medical insurance on this trip or any trip you take abroad.
Do I have to attend only this tour?
No, you can book your vacation for as long as you want, but book off the week stated to spend with us on the tour. Feel free to join us as part of your pre-planned vacation it will be a great addition. You can do the tour and then carry on with your vacation.
What will I need to bring?
Bring what you would on any vacation and be prepared for the weather changes. This is the UK and although it will be Summer, weather is unpredictable. We recommend you pack comfortable footwear, rain jacket and an umbrella just in case. Also, a good camera or cell phone camera as you will want to capture every moment.
What if I cannot attend all the days?
The events are all pre-booked and paid for so you will be missing out. You can pick up and join us for the other activities. We cannot refund days missed.
What if I have to leave early or arrive late?

Is this tour accessibility friendly?
At this time we cannot accommodate individuals with wheelchairs or walking aide requirements due to the historic architecture and some locations with narrow access, acute-angled winding stairs or similar. Many activities involve walking and may involve low lighting and uneven floors underfoot.
Will there be WiFi?
We want you to share your experiences and yes, most places have free Wi-Fi. You may want to check with your cell phone provider regarding using your cell phone abroad. UK SIM cards are inexpensive and generous, with many pay-as-you-go plans giving 20 GB of data, with text and calling included for approximately £20 GBP. Ensure your phone is unlocked before you leave your home country if you wish to use your own phone with a UK SIM card.

Travellers cheques are no longer accepted in many parts of Europe.
